Eisheth's Temple: Infirmary

Situated within the beautiful greenery of the gardens of Eisheth, along the coastline not too far from the harbour and in view of the Citadel that guards the entrance to the port of Marsilikos, is the infirmary, a one storey building of white stone and simple architecture that has been enhanced with classical elements, as if inspired by the buildings of ancient Hellene culture. Traces of columns, half-worked into the walls can be found on all sides of the infirmary. An archway frames the sturdy oak door of the entrance, white stone worked with impressive masonry skill into a bas-relief, depicting a female in robes holding a roll of bandages and a vial of sorts to the left and a male healer to the right with a scroll in one hand, while the other is lifted in lecturing gesture, as if he were giving a medical diagnosis.

The hall beyond is agreeably cool during hot summers and kept warm in cold winters, through a large hearth that governs the center of the long wall to the right. It is here in this hall that the majority of patients will be treated immediately, and so there are a number of curtains that divide the space into areas with cots. In times of need, the space can be stacked up to hold two dozen beds. The vicinity of the gardens allows for the soothing tranquility of nature to become part of the process of recovery, chirping of birds, wisps of casual conversation reaching those inside through the line of arched windows that sit higher up at the walls. It also serves a source of lighting during the day, whereas a number of oil lamps at the walls are lighted during evenings and nights.

Close to the entrance, there is a door to the left that leads to the infirmary's office, where records of patients are being kept, along with other book keeping of supplies and the like. Another archway opens from the hall into a hallway, where secluded rooms are provided for harder cases, long-term treatments and those of higher standing and the wish for more privacy. These chambers are plain yet well kept, immaculately clean, with sheets of the more comfortable beds being changed regularly. In each chamber, an arched window offers light during the day, and a pair of two chairs offer seating to healers or the occasional visitor a patient may receive.

When looking out of the windows, you see: It is a fall morning. The weather is cool and overcast.

It's mid afternoon on this fall day. It's cool and the sun is not shining today through the thick clouds. Laying in two beds pushed together, a guritto - a giant that has been swaddled tightly so he cannot move and even in sleep he's frowning. There is a tiny woman lightly snoring beside him and on the other, Lord Gregoire is laying there trying to beat a fever. Gwenaelle would get the information that both men were poisoned with Hemlock but were treated so that's why they have fevers. She would get a description of the guritto's injuries. His throat was slit to stop him from talking but not to bleed. His face, as obviously seen, was very beaten. One eye black and swollen closed, his nose was clearly broken, split lip. The nurse states it looks like he was beaten with a club on the front and they used a scourge, a whip with bone pieces in the laces, on his back. His hand was crushed and they tried to set it as best they could but two of his fingers had bones sticking out and his hand also had a bone sticking out. He got shot with an arrow through the left thigh and his right knee, they removed a wooden spike.

Gwenaelle returns to the infirmary after the acolyte traced her down at a friend's place. She rushes into the infirmary, still dressed in a gown of green instead of her robes. Frowning as she comes ot the alcove where the group lies, she speaks with the healers that took care of the trio, though it is likely Fenris that gains most of her attention at first. "List the injuries and issues."

Only once the other healer has given her a run-down of injuries and issues does Gwenaelle finally step forwards. She'll take a moment to wash her hands, to even pull on an apron over her dress before she gets down to work. With the healer's help, she will slowly unwind Fenris from his covers to find the worst injuries, starting with his hand. A prayer is offered, the words almost sing-songed beneath her breath as she works, her concentration narrowing down on he, his body, and the injuries, calling out to Eisheth to guide her, to help her. Knowing the other healer will help where needed allows her the freedom to concentrate and make the plea to her Companion.

The initial bandages are undone, her fingers tracing the bones broken, and with gentle pulls here and there, they are realligned as needed for the best healing possible. Warmth may be felt by he through her hands as she works, praying and rewrapping eventually before she might move on to the next injury that needs her touch the most.

She wouldn't be able to tell you how long she works, only that by the end of it, she's swaying on her feet, pale and perhaps a little shaky. No doubt, the other healer working with her, will have to call her name several times, pulling her hands from him to get her to stop her work, the prayers to fade off as she blinks and becomes aware of her patient and surroundings.

Fen wakes up sometime around when she's stretching his fingers out and setting bones. He tightens his jaw and whimpers out quietly. He grips the blanket with his other hand but at the same time he's focusing on the heat. He watches her carefully and when she's done with his hand he lifts it up, wrapped and stares at it. She works on his leg and keeps working. He watches her with wide blue eyes. "Are…you alright?" He asks her quietly as she's pale. He looks at his hand again in confusion. His eyes lift up to her and he tilts his head slightly. "There… is room to lay down if you need too?" He pulls Gregoire closer, leaving her a whole half bed!

The other healer has seen the work that Gwenaelle can do when she calls upon her Companion's help. To his amazement, she but smiles, "She is close to her Companion, milord." That is all the other healer says to him as Gwen does her work. When finally she's done what she can and the other healer pulls her back, Gwen is left swaying, held up by the other healer who calls for yet another to come help. "Thank you.. I…" Before she might finish, the other healer finishes, "We will see to her, milord. We'll make sure she's tucked into her bed here in the temple. As a priestess, she has a small cell with the other priests and priestesses there.

Fen watches her carefully. "She…saved my hand. Please make sure she gets better." He grumbles quietly. "I…don't know but is it appropriate to give a gift in thanks and if… so what's appropriate?" He winces at the question and his own stupidity. His eyes on Gwenaelle as she sways. He glances to the other healer with those wide eyes and waits quietly.

As Gwenaelle is helped off by the other healer, the one that had helped her, smiles to Fenris, "She will get better. Her work drains her energy. The more she does, the longer she must rest up. She will be fine, I promise you." That said, she considers, "A donation to the temple is all what she would tell you, if you insist on giving a gift? What she does is through Eisheth's touch on her. To accepted anything for doing what what she was Called to do, would be unaccpetable to her."

The giant nods his head slowly and then thinks of something. "Oh companions… I will have to write my uncle and tell him what happened…and ask…for help with the gift." He slowly pushes himself up and stretches out his left hand. "Can someone bring me a quill and paper?" He pushes himself to a more sitting position by using Gregoire's hip.

The healer will call upon an acolyte nearby to lend the giant man some help. The young boy will fetch quill and paper as well while the healer makes sure that he, and the two others, are checked upon as well. The acolyte will stare a little, only because of the size of Fenris!

Fenris is not the best writer with his right hand so left hand writing looks very childish and filled with mistakes. Though he's rather valiant in getting the missive done and then looking over to the acolyte. "Hello." He folds up the paper very messily and hands it over. "That goes to Duc Valliers please." He arranges himself and slowly lays down between Helisson and Gregoire.

The acolyte will take the folded parchment, and once the order is given, smiles, "I will take it there myself." Once certain the man needs nothing else, he will scurry off after reporting to the healer to let her know where he is headed. There's another note as well to be delivered, so he hurries off to do this errand!
