Eresse Townhouse

The Eresse residence combines rustique naval charme with a certain noble elegance, as can be seen from the interior of the parlor, where a few windows light the room generously during the day. At the wall hangs a shield with the family crest, the green ship on a field of white. Dark mahogany furniture provides a nice contrast to the green color favored in the upholstery in the furniture. A table with a number of elegantly carved chairs govern one side of room, set before a wall that sports a few paintings of naval scenes. To the other side, there is the hearth, plain dark grey marble, which has a variety of small ship models arranged upon the mantelpiece. Before the hearth, a few comfortable armchairs have been arranged, green cushions thrown in to add more comfort.

A door at the back leads to the kitchens and a stairway leading upstairs towards the private quarters of Eresse lords and ladies currently residing in the city.

When looking out of the windows, you see: It is a spring day. The weather is warm and fair.

Paperwork. It has become the bane of Gauge's existence since their father and older brother had their hunting accident promoting the Privateer Admiral to the unenviable position as Baron de Beaucare. Which has taken him from the fleet and the sea for far to long. At the moment Gauge is seated at a table with a couple stacks of paperwork before him, along with the remains of what looks like lunch, a bottle of rum (with no glass) and an attendant who is speaking with him quietly about matters concerning the Barony, and a specific wedding which has not been announced yet but…

When he speaks, Gauge's gravelly voice can't help but carry, that deep almost silken rumble rather unique due to the scar on his throat that he received on his first trip out. "See to it that the Seaspray and Stormrunner are assigned to House Delauney and tasked with escorting their trade ships." He tells the attendant who runs off to do the Baron's bidding and then Gauge looks back towards the paperwork, a slight frown creasing his forehead and curling his lips down at the corners.

Once the attendant runs off, Irene is quick to enter. She smiles broadly seeing her brother. The young woman is holding her sketch book tightly pressed to her chest when she steps deeper into the room. All those papers are folded and wrapped in a nice light leather cover, which has floral ornaments embroidered on it. Irene herself is wearing a light pink gown with a scoop neckline. This time she chooses her golden jewelry adorned with brightly red gems to decorate her cleavage and wrists.

"Lunch. I am also feeling hungry… Though, I was more wishing to visit one of the Inns…" She states moving closer to the table before settling down in front of Gauge. Her curious gaze peeks at papers in front of her older brother. "Anything interesting?"

"Just stay away from the Kraken on the docks." Comes Gauge's rumble at the mention of wanting to visit inns, "If you want good food, stay to the Noble Quarter, things have been rough down on the docks of late and you will find better food nearby regardless." Looking up and over towards Irene there is a smile curving his lips, his expression softening, "You are looking…" He rumbles a soft chuckle in the middle of his sentence, "Like I am going to be entertaining many marriage offers for you soon sister, what with your birthday coming up." He starts to stack papers up and move them out of the way, "Just business, finances, making sure our ships are properly doing their jobs and making Beaucare wealthier than it costs to run them."

Irene puts her sketches on the table and then folds her hands on a lap, nodding slowly at the suggestions where she shall eat. "I heard about the docks. Don't worry, brother. Plus, I wouldn't wander off alone. I have a guard who is doing a great job in keeping me safe." She leans back in a seat looking over those paintings of naval scenes. "Aren't you excited about your duties? It sounds like marrying off your siblings is your favorite activity. Pity, you don't have more of us, isn't it?" She chuckles before her dark brown eyes find Gauge's. "I will trust in your decision regarding my future husband. However, I expect equal respect from you. By that, I mean, that I hope to receive a couple suggestions from which I will be allowed to chose. You know, that I would always chose best for my family." But then a serious expression is replaced by a more joyful one. "I want to arrange a small party for my birthday. Is that fine?"

"I am not in a rush to marry off all my siblings." Gauge rumbles with a chuckle, "Belmont is simply getting old, and we need to ensure that our family retains the Barony. It's not like I have any heirs myself and it provides us a unique opportunity to tie Beaucare to a larger House, so I am taking it." He smiles wryly at that and shrugs, "Enjoy yourself while you can Irene. Life is to short to not experience all the pleasure you desire. I will fend off any requests for your hand in marriage until I have no choice, or if you pick someone out I will see what I can do." He smiles softly, "Belmont is quite happy with his match you know… I'd do the same for you."

"Well… In that case, I desire my husband to be nothing less than a Baron. I believe that lands, money and good standing would be a good addition to our line. Of course, it would be also great if a man would look at least a little bit more handsome than a monkey and that he would be strong enough to defend my honor like Belmont or you would do. Until you meet someone who matches my requirements, you shall refuse the offers," Irene details her thoughts firmly but then bursts in laugh. She leans over the table adding, "You should also fix the situation regarding heirs. You are also not getting younger, brother. I would love to become an aunt. I believe that I would be the greatest aunt of all times." Irene muffles the sound of her fading chuckle by covering her lips with dainty fingers.

"Plans are in motion." Gauge rumbles with a playful smile, "Rest assured that I am working on trying to secure a wife for myself as well, but the lady I have chosen for myself is a unique case." He chuckles, "I also have to wait until Belmont is married so as to not sabotage that contract." He nods solemnly though at her demands, "I think that won't be a problem, I am sure ther eare Vicomte's and Comte's and Barons and perhaps even Duke's that would be happy to have you." He then asks, "How long have you been in Marsilikos? Only recently arrived?"

"Oh, brother, tell me more about that lady of your choice! Is she a challenge? Why?" Irene asks but then waves it off, "But it shouldn't be hard for you. I am sure you defeated worse challanges than this even if we, women, can be incredibly difficult."

Irene shakes her head at the last question, "I have been around about a week. Though, I needed time to settle in. Also, I was admiring the town and made some new sketches. But now I am absolutely ready to go out and let everybody meet the marvellous Irene. They shall rejoice!" The young woman chuckles one more time being in an incredibly good spirit today.

Gauge chuckles at her response, "I am sure Marsilikos will never know what hit it now that you have settled in and will be able to devote your attention in full to the city and it's denizens." His smile reaches his eyes, causing them to squint and there is the faintest crows feet at the corners forming in his amusement. "As for my personal life," He barks a soft laugh, "It is not the Lady that is the problem, but her family. It is a unique situation, one that is usually the purview of those of greater position than my own." His eyes sparkle with mirth, "I am sure you will meet the Lady in question soon enough, she does tend to visit often of late." He leans forwards at the mention of sketches, reaching for his bottle of rum he takes a drink from it directly without the use of a glass. "Show me your latest artwork? It's been a long time and I am sure you have plenty of new material to show me."

"Why are you so secretive? Now I will be expecting that any lady who walks through our door will be the one you have fell in love with… Won't you tell me her name?" Irene pouts playfully but then her hands reach for the sketch book. She takes it from the table and safely settles it down on her own lap, "No. Some sketches are not finished and I am not yet happy with them. You will have to be patient but be assured that you will be the first to whom I will present my best work. Now about Belmont… Do you know where he might be hiding at this hour?" But then the young sister is quick to change the subject, "Now that I think about it, your beloved one must be a foreigner if this is such a difficult situation usually handled by someone of higher authority. Am I right?"

"She is a foreigner yes," Gauge says with another gravelly chuckle and he reaches up to rub at the scar on his throat lightly, as he does sometimes when giving some deep thought to something or another. "She is the Lady Aziza Nimr, Ambassador to Eisande from Menekhet. Normally such a match would be… with someone of much greater standing than a Baron, which makes it tricky. If we must end up as Consorts, than that is what we will be. However I think I have a path forwards that might be a more formal marriage contract. Which will not only give me the opportunity to marry for something more than political leverage, but open up a great many ports to Beaucare and Eisande ships possibly." He smiles a little wryly but then he raises an eyebrow, "Truly? After so much time you haven't finished anything worth showing me? You must be slipping sister, or uninspired." A wider smile follows. "Belmont is probably asleep, or, over at his intended's estate. He has been spending a lot of time with her."

"Well, maybe you are right, brother. I need to go out and find some inspiration," Irene stands up and smiles at Gauge, "I will leave you to create a magnificant plan how to acquire the hand of a woman you love who will also become of a high value to our family. I am pretty sure that you can find a proper approach. Also, give my regards to Belmont if you will run into him first." Then she comes closer to Gauge and if brother will allow, a young woman will place a small peck on his forehead, "It was a pleasure to talk to you again."

Afterwards, Irene rushes off to seek inspiration and one can only hear her voice echoing in a halwlay, calling the name of a guard who shall assist Eresse's lady.
