La Silverback

After Gauge and Aziza both hit dead ends and the 'problem' was handled by other Nobles and Scions there was only the trip home. Fortunately not being directly involved in the Beziers nonsense allowed them to leave when they chose, and they didn't even have to take the fastest route. Rather than break out the oars and have the crew row them back to Marsilikos, Gauge has decided to let the current move them which will make for a bit of a ship board vacation through the mediteranean to spin them back around towards Terre d'Ange. It will be a comfortable trip, hopefully, and they can make stops at other ports on the way if she wishes.

*

Aziza was currently sitting at Gauge's table with a frown on her face. Putting the pen down she just sighs as she puts that down. Licking her lips she stands up as she sighs and stars to remove that headdress from her head and moves to /his/ wardrobe. With a yawn she puts all of that up and starts to remove that sheer white silk on her body.

*

Once the ship is well underway, Gauge returns to the cabin and shuts the door behind him. He walks over towards the desk but on his way through he absently smacks that ass with a cupped palm to pop playfully. Reaching the desk he starts checking charts, measurements, and making sure their course is good. He makes marks on the map with a wax pencil and then goes to open some of the windows to allow a breeze into the cabin. Fresh sea salty air.

Aziza doesn't budge at that smack as her brow as she slow moves he gaze to him. Moving over to him with. smirk to stand behind him with a smile. As she stood there she just murmuring softly. "…..making sure we're not off course?” A beat. "I can leave you here to your entertainment. "

*

"What entertainment can possibly be had on this ship without you?" Gauge rumbles curiously and then he turns towards her to wrap his arms around her waist, tugging her naked form in against him with a playful but firm pull. He reaches up to brush fingertips through her hair, "Well, at least all of that nonsense is done and we can tell the Duchess we did our part." He rumbles a chuckle, "Those Ducal Courts though… ugh. Don't think I am ever going to enjoy those." He lifts his head a bit to smell the sea air, "I missed this… being on the ocean… now if only we ran into some pirates to kill…"

*

Aziza chuckles a bit as she rolls her eyes. Leaning into him she sighs a bit then before just sighs. "We did do our part. But it will be fine. Also….." Trailing off she just a bit then smirks then. "Pirating pirates might be fun. But perhaps should wait.

*

"Oh? Well it will wait." Gauge rumbles, "Until we find one." He smiles wickedly at that, "Though we're not likely to run into any on this course. Tomorrow we'll start cutting across the sea instead of staying closer to the shoreline but we'll not be taking a usual shipping route. Chances of trouble are slim."

*

Aziza chuckles a bit as she she just chuckles shakes her heads. lIcking her keeps she sighs then nods. "For what? I was just waiting while I enjoy this ride. I was just chuckling as I waited." Exhaling she continues. "As exciting as that sounds…..no."

*

"For what?" Gauge asks back, clearly not understanding why she would have asked that, "Ah… well, if we see sail on the horizon I will let them know we should avoid then." He looks at Aziza with a small wry smile, "So it sounds like you are doing a lot of waiting." He rumbles with an amused chuckle, "That's what sailing is, once everything is good, you wait, and enjoy the time as best you can." He caresses her temple and the back of her head with his fingertips stroking through her hair. "Do you want to go above decks? Stretch your legs? Can go fishing off the deck of you wished."

*

Aziza raises her brow. "As in why? I can't afford to get in trouble….I might cause a problem." Chuckling a bit she just shakes her head. "And…" Licking her lips she just watches him then nods. "Above deck, Sure. I was planning to just….lay down. I didn't need to get in the way." Sighing she moves closer to him. "Why…..?" That voice was soft as she watched him. "So you can….show me off?" A smirk tugs at her lips as she motions to his door. "Am I a prize?"

*

Gauge just raises an eyebrow, "What." It's not even a question really, more a statement of WTF than anything else. "Why would you even say such things?" He rumbles with a frown following, "Show you off like a prize?" Apparently that idea that she might even playfully think that is at the very least annoying if not upsetting to him. "I just thought you might like to do something different than spend the whole voyage in my cabin."

*

Aziza stares at him intently them just closes her eyes. There is a moment of silence before she exhales. "I….." Pausing she opens her eyes as she looks at him. "I'm sorry….just….a really shitty joke." Apologies? She never apologizes. "But….yes….I'd like that. It would be nice to do that…."

*

Gauge looks into her eyes and since she is pressing against him he definitely doesn't push a naked Menekhet Princess away from him, not even slightly. He smoothes one hand along her back and then down to cup and squeeze the same cheak he had spanked so playfully earlier with gentle kneading fingers, "What is going on?" He rumbles softly, concern on his expression, his eyes mostly. His other hand continues to stroke fingers through her hair tenderly and down the back of her neck, "You are not in the way." He tells her, "Ever. Even if there was a fight, or a storm, you could be above decks and not in the way. People know what to do and how to move around others to get to the proper ropes and pulleys. Your being there is not going to make my commands any different." He rumbles softly, "So why this… stay away and hide idea?" He smiles a little sly smirk, "If you wanted to just go to bed and enjoy ourselves that is fine too."

*

Aziza clears her throat as she chuckles at this hand. Taking a deep breath she just….leans into him. "Nothing…." Taking a deep breath she nods then. "Don't mind me. But…we can head up. Let me get my clothes back on then." With that she would slowly pull from him then as she grabbed her fabric. "And as much as I would enjoy that prospect….I need some fresh maybe."

*

"Well I did open some windows." Gauge rumbles with a small smile, not letting her pull away from him so easily unless she really struggles and then he'd let go but otherwise… he keeps her close. "Something is on your mind though Aziza." He says in a softer tone of voice, "Did I do something wrong?" He leans down to give her a soft kiss to her forehead, to her eyes, gentle. Both his arms move up to wrap around her shoulders and hold her to his strong frame like a warm semi-soft rock of support.

*

Aziza keeps close to him as he holds her. Clearing her throat she slowly moves her gaze from him as she seems to be in thought. Taking a deep breath she slowly looks up to him with a smile. "I'm fine…truly." She puts a hand to his chest then with a smile. "And no…you did not do anything wrong. You would know if you did…" Closing her eyes at that kiss she seems to be content as she put her forehead to his chest then. "No need to ask…I just…." Trailing her off she then shakes head. "I'm fine….."

*

"For an Ambassador, you are not very good at hiding when something is… maybe not wrong but… not right either?" Gauge rumbles with a wry half-grin and he puts his left hand over hers on his chest. "I won't push." He says softly, "But I am here for you." And he leans down to kiss the top of her head since her forehead is on his chest. His other hand strokes gently up and down her back in soft caresses more just to feel her against him and to enjoy her naked body than anything overtly sexual. More tender and sensual than sexual. He mmms, "Let's lay down. Windows are open, place will air out, won't be so stuffy and hot in here…"

*

Aziza chuckles a bit as she just stays still. As she feel that kiss she slowly looks up at him then. Those kohl lined eyes seem to take him in then. She takes him then while letting her eyes roam over him….not sexually but as if taking him in. She was quiet as she slowly takes him then nods slowly. "So we're not going up on the deck?" Smirking slowly she gives him a playful wink then shakes her head playfully. "I am good at hiding things when I absolutely needs to. But when it comes to me and my…thoughts…..I am horrible. I don't know how to handle some….stuff."

*

"We can if you want to." Gauge says in a soft rumble, "You just look like you don't know what you want to do. If you want time to think, then that's alright too. If you want me to go so you can have time to youerself… I will see about catching us some fresh fish for dinner." He smiles softly, "If you want to talk about some….stuff," He gives the same length of pause she did with a playful smile, "I can be here for that too."

*

Aziza smiles as she slowly pulls away from him to just finally grab that fabric. Wrapping it around her body as she seems to be in thought then turns to face him. Running her fingers through her hair as she stares at him then. "I don't know why I like you….I don't like people….not in this way." Her voice was soft as she stares at him intently. "…..please don't take that the wrong wait….." Pursing her lips she slowly walks over to him then smiles. "I don't need to be left alone, Gauge." Her voice softens as she slowly puts her hands back to his chest then. "…I'd….rather go stay with you if you go up top. No need to hide here…."

*

"Oh." Gauge rumbles softly, looking into her eyes the right side of his mouth curls upwards in a half-smile, his hands going to her waist and hips when she puts her hands on his chest. "You afraid you're starting to like me more than you should?" Gauge rumbles curiously, "Because if so… join the crowd." And he leans down to give her a soft kiss before he starts to walk away from the desk, slipping one arm around her waist as the kiss breaks and he escorts her to the door and then out onto the deck. "Luc!" He calls out, "Get the lines and cranks out! We'll see if we can't get us some fresh dinner!" There are cheers from some of the crew as a tall thin man salutes with an: "Oui Captain." then goes off to fetch the gear and the bait.
Gauge walks with Aziza to the stairs and then up to the wheel deck and towards the back railing. "We hook the cranks up here and then drop a line with baited hooks over the edge. Since we're not running full sail we'll drag the lines and wait for one to yank and hook. If we're lucky we'll get some swordfish or shark."

*

Aziza clears her throat slightly as she leans against him then nods. Licking her lips she then raises a brow. "Join the crowd?" At that kiss she returns that kiss gently before she was carted off from that desk and outside of the cabin and onto the deck. Listening to the men she chuckles as she slips from him then. A smile tugs at her lips as she moves to the railing. Letting her long hair whip around in the wind there was a genuine look of happiness on her face as she seems to be enjoying herself at that moment. "Sounds good. I do not think I've had shark…..or…maybe I have." She slowly turns to look back at him and nods. "I'm looking forward to it. Your men sound really excited about this too…"

*

"Every now and again we have some fresh food. Animals are expensive to keep because they require food, water, and cargo space. So they don't generally last long into the trip. Got to make room for prizes." Gauge rumbles, "So we end up eating mostly dried and salted meat, occasional fresh chicken, salted fish." He chuckles, "A good cook is a prized shipmate." He walks over towards the railing with her and he smiles, "So fresh fish… is a treat. Most of the time we are on war footing so can't really fish. This is more of a luxury cruise." He rests a hand on the small of her back lightly, "And yes, you aren't the only one having issues with trying to make sense of feelings and emotions." He rumbles softly.

*

Aziza nods as she slowly looks back out to the horizon. "That makes sense. I will admit I don't know much about sailing. We have ships but…not for war really….I don't think. I know more about land battles…not fighting on the water. Clearing her throat she then chuckles. "But…good thing then. They can enjoy that treat." At his last statement she then seems to hesitate but doesn't move from his touch. Slowly looking over at him she seems to be watching him back to the waters. "Yes….well….I guess it's only natural for someone to care for their friends."

*

"Yes." Gauge rumbles softly, "If that's all I was feeling it would be easy to understand. There would not be confusion about what I was feeling." The talk of treats and fishing is left to the wayside for the time being. "Starting to think we're more than friends, I just don't know what. We come from different worlds. Have different paths before us. At best…" His rough voice trails off and he looks from the ocean behind them to her for a moment, searching her face and eyes with a thoughtful expression but then he is rescued by Luc arriving with the heavy reels and spools of thick line. Moving away from the railing over to the side so that the crewman has enough room to get the reels and cranks in place as he starts baiting heavy hooks with something pungent and not the most pleasant of smelling stuff. Meat that been cast aside from the slaughter of animals perhaps.

*

Aziza slowly turns to look over at him. "Confused?" Watching him she then moves a step closer to him. "More than friends? I mean…you said lovers and…." As he stepped then she seemed to be waiting but then Luc appeared. If looks could kill that poor man would be dead but she relaxed. At that she just turns and leans back upon the railing. While Gauge did what he needed to catch fish for their more 'luxurious' dinner she was quiet as she waits. Her brows furrowed in though she keeps her eyes locked on that water then.

*

Fortunately Luc is doing all the setting up and baiting of th ehooks and letting the lines out. Gauge simply moves with Aziza out of the way and watches. "The stronger the smell the better it carries in the water, so I am lead to understand." He shrugs a little, "A fisherman I am not. Though if we get multiple hits that cause the lines to run we might both end up assisting in reeling them in." He chuckles softly and then looks over towards her, "I've had many lovers, Aziza, and none of them have evoked the same… intensity… as you do." He tells her softly in a purr that is necessary due to volume more than sensuality or the like. "When you said you wrote home… it began to make me think you might disappear from my life and I found that thought… painful."

*

Aziza looks over towards him then smiles. "That's fine. I don't mind helping if you need me to. You did give me a ride after all…" Chuckling softly she pushes her long dark hair out of her face then exhales deeply. "Intensity…" Her voice trails off softly then slowly looks away from him. "What were you about to say before you stepped away. At best what….?" Keeping her gaze on the sea she toys with that fabric that's wrapped around her body. "….I'm hoping I don't have to leave, Gauge…." Chuckling she closes her eyes as she feels the wind in her hair. "Maybe the Pharaoh will see this a city worthwhile setting up trade. Maybe I can…find someone that provide him something we don't have….that make him want to do more business here."

*

"I am nothing but a Baron," Gauge answers her question, letting the other conversation topic go, "As such I am not of proper political capital to entertain the idea of us being anything other than lovers. At best, you could take me as your Consort. If things are done in your lands the same as they are done in mine." He shrugs slightly, "I have been thinking of the future, and how I would like you to be a part of mine, how to make that work. In the end all I could come up with was friends, lovers, and possibly consorts." He looks over towards the set up of the fishing gear, "The lines will be set to drag at a certain length, but if a fish of suitable size hits and is hooked it will start to pull the line out. That is how we will know if we have anything on the hook."

*

Aziza looks over at him as he starts to speak again. Hearing those words her brow slowly starts to raise however those dusky cheeks seem to display a hint of rosiness. Frowning slightly she turns to face him fully. "You say…'nothing but a Baron' as if that is not good enough…." Her voice then trails off as she hears his next words….and she just stands there. "….part of your future…..?" Those words were spoken softly then but her eyes cut over to the lines he was referring to. Her hand moving to that rail she grips it tightly before she turns away to look back out to the waters. "….okay." That's all she had to say right now. For one of the rare times she was speechless…or without words.

*

"Yes." Gauge answers in that rough gravelly rumble of his, "You are what you are Aziza." He looks towards her, telling her these things softly as he leans in. "In my land… a Baron has no hope of being more than a Consort to one such as you." He turns to face her then, his arms going around hers as he grasps the railing on either side of her own grasp, his arms around her as he leans down to breathe in the scent of her on the sea air, face close to her neck and ear. Also so his words will not carry to any of his crew or any other guards who might be nearby. "If you were of the same mind… if things were to grow in that way for you as well." He rumbles softly, "That is all I could think of. I do not know how things work in your lands, but I cannot leave mine without leadership."

*

Aziza chuckles softly then. "….one such as I…." It seems to be an echo as she repeats those words. "…and if I weren't?" Laughing a bit she leans her head to the side as she feels his breath on her neck, eliciting a shiver from her. "Gauge…I…." There is a pause from her as she seems to be deep in thought. "….and if I were of the same mind? Then what?" Turning slowly so that now she's leaning against the railing she looks up at him, smirking. "….careful….your men might see…."

*

"Right now you are just an Ambassador in their eyes." Gauge murmurs softly, "It does not matter what they think. If anything it'll settle some bets amongst them since we have spent so much time in my cabin… and not exactly been the quietest." He rumbles a chuckle at that as he steps closer, reaching up with one hand to cup her cheek as he looks into her eyes deeply. "If you weren't… our situations would be reversed. I could take you as my consort, but consorts still would be what we would be." He frowns, "The only way we could be more than consorts is if the Duchess appealed to the King to grant you official title, or the Duchess adopted you officially."

*

Aziza chuckles softly then. "Same could be said about Charlotte, Baron…." A smirk tugs at her lips then as she gives him. wink. "And no….we're not quiet…" That voice softens then as she feels his hand on her chest. Closing her eyes she just leans into his chest as she plants her hand on his chest. "….more? But…." She finally opens her eyes to look up at him then chuckles a bit. "….my father will not let anyone adopt me. As for a title? What for?" Licking her lip she pushes off of the rail and steps closer to him. "…seems all of your jests about speaking to my father are truly a jest then, Gauge…"

*

"No." Gauge says softly, "They were not a jest." His hand moves from her cheek up into her hair as he looks into her eyes, "I need to know how things work for your people first. I do not know what would be required of me, by your family, your Father, if I would be acceptable." He traces fingertips over her ear and then down the back of it before floating down the side of her neck. "I do not know your ways, I only know the ways of my people. If your family… your Father… would accept it then it would be a fine match that would be more than welcome to my House. I speak on the assumption that a lowly Baron of a non-royal bloodline would not be deemed worthy in your Fathers eyes." He takes a long slow breath, "Still I would try."

*

"Gauge….you don't know what you say….." Her voice is soft as she keeps her eyes locked on his. "….you just….I…." There was a shiver that goes through Aziza's body then as that gaze is unwavering. "…you're not lowly….not in my eyes. I..don't know how to even process this…." Pursing her lips she slowly puts her head to his chest then as she closes here eyes. "….why are you speaking of this….? My heart is pounding….and I've never…felt this….before." Slowly she looks up at him as she nibbles her lower lip. "….you have to know that if you ask this….you have to be sure if you ever truly wanted to try. I'd have to speak to my father but…" At that she pauses. "What is a consort for your people here?"

*

"A consort is the wife of the heart, if not the political name. A consort can bear noble children and heirs." Gauge looks at her, "And Charlotte is nothing but a tumble in the bed. A commoner can be a consort, yes, but it is more often held by Courtesans who have chosen a single patron enough to forsake their devotions to Naamah, or by noble women to have children with their lovers outside of marriage. Children are political pieces in Terra d'Ange, treaty and contract determines which House they will go to. Which will be Heirs of which. At least in some cases. Especially amongst landed nobility. If a Lord or Lady has no land, then they often become a part of the House with which they have joined, if marrying a Landed Noble to share the title, in some respects."

*

Aziza chuckles a bit as she nods then as he explains. "Understood. But aren't you looking for a wife for your family? Isn't that what you were trying to do? Wouldn't you prefer to be able to have a wife that's of the heart as well?" She searches his eyes then. "….makes things less complicated?" There's a look there as she just sighs. "….I'ms sorry. I just…I'm so lost….I…." That's when she just whispers. "….I'm scared. Even when I was getting ambushed I wasn't scared….I just pulled out my bow and did what I needed. This…? This is different."

*

"We are just talking." Gauge says softly as he moves to wrap his arms around her and pull her in against him. Presumably fishing is still being set up behind them. "Talking about desires. About wants. About the heart." He kisses the top of her head gently. "All I know… is I want a future with you in it, however I can have you." He rumbles gently.

*

Aziza chuckles a bit as she leans against him. "I know….ignore me.." Clearing her throat she goes to slowly look up at him then. "Well Gauge…." A smile tugs at her lips. "I would like that. For as long as you want me…you can have me. All jesting aside….if you wish for me to be by your side….I will….however I can make it happen."

*

"I will never ignore you Aziza." Gauge says in a soft almost rumbling purr. "I do not want you scared. I do not want you lost. I want you by my side. I want you in my bed. I want you in my life. I want all of you." He leans down to kiss her then as his arms tighten around her and he pulls her in against him more firmly. He apparently doesn't care whom on his crew might see or what stories they might tell. That kiss is a lingering sensual one with the smouldering passion of a fire that never seems to go out… for as long as she allows it to continue.

*

Aziza just stares up him as a look crosses those features. That normal hardness seems to melt away as she hears his words….her body shaking slightly as he pulls her to him. That kiss did her in. Returning it slowly she wraps her arms around his neck to pull him to her even more tightly. After a few minutes she slowly breaks the kiss, a shuddering breath leaving her. "….Gauge." A beat….or two. "….whatever you need of me….ask me….and I will do my best. I know you still have things you're probably….working with. I remember words you told me…about not wanting me to fill a void. Well know this…." Her hands going to him she pulls him gently own to her as she places her forehead against his. "….I'm here for you….whether it is to talk….to find out what happened…..to send troops after whomever did it. I won't be there to fill that void….but to help fix it and make it right."

*

As his forehead reaches hers he closes his eyes, "I don't think you are filling a void." Gauge rumbles softly, "I never wanted to bed my brother or my father." He smiles a little at that, "They died in a hunting accident… it was not malicious as far as I know. Just stupidity." He reaches up to cup one hand against her cheek and jaw, running his fingertips down along to her chin in a tender stroke of calloused fingers. "We will figure out what to do… what we can do…" He leans back and opens his eyes a bit to look into her own. "If there is anything I can do, I will." He murmurs softly, "I am here for you as well."

*

Aziza chuckles softly. "A lot of people at home have had 'hunting accidents' and I always ask is all. But things are different here as you say…." Taking a deep breath she just nods then as she keeps her gaze on his. "But for now…." Her dark eyes search his face then as she chuckles. "…..though you don't care….and neither do I….the whispers amongst your men might be truly confirmed…" A wink is given to him as she then looks past him. "So….those fish…."

*

"As far as I know the most likely suspect for such a 'hunting accident' would be… me." Gauge wrinkles his nose at the thought. "I was the one with the most to gain from it. At least to an outsiders eyes. Those who know me would know this is not something I would have ever wished for." He strokes his palm up over her cheek and smiles a little softly at some thought which soon finds a voice, "At least… until I met you. I have a feeling that the common noble privateer would have been of much less interest to you than the Baron who doesn't act like a Baron." He says playfully.

*

Aziza watches him intently then just takes his hands. Smiling she moves from that railing and simply tugs him along then back to that cabin. "….they'll let you know I'm sure if something catches…." At that she glances over her shoulder at him then smiles. "I'm pretty sure if I met you and you were still the same person….the title would not have made a different…." A wink is given to him then as she moves over towards that door. Seeing her guards she murmurs to them in their native tongue before she opens that door. Her men just leave then as she seems to wait to see if Gauge does follow her inside. "…let's just lie down for a bit, hm? Get under the covers and just….look out the window from the bed…."

*

Gauge allows himself to be drawn away from the railing, looking over at Luc as he finishes getting the lines set up. "Luc have Donal and Gaspar help you if you get multiple hits. You know what to do if you catch something." He gives orders and then he follows along into that cabin. "We likely would have never met without it. I would be at sea… and not lingering around Marsilikos." Stepping into the Captain's Cabin with Aziza, Gauge shuts the door behind them and then steps over towards her more fully, "I think it will be difficult, to just lie down and look out the window." He says with a silky rumble of a chuckle. "You may be asking to much of me, Ambassador." He definitely does not resist being drawn to the bed… for whatever purpose it ends up being used for.
