Background

Lillian's a common-born adept of the Rose Sauvage, 16 years old and barely past her first assignation. Born to a moderately well off family of tailors in the city, her family specializes in the make and repair of delicate fabrics, especially those of the bedroom. It's a skill they passed somewhat to their young daughter, with working with sheer and gossamer fabrics being her speciality. She is, otherwise, an inexpert tailor. At the age of 8, she was sold to the Rose Sauvage after a fire destroyed most of her family's workshop, taking many of their customers' finery with it. Between the cost of repairs and the cost of replacing said finery, they were left with few choices, and fully expected their daughter to become a White Rose. Much to their suprise, she passed the candy test as well as any Red Rose could, and joined them as a novice.

While a trained follower of the house Valerian canon, Lillian has made mimicking the shy innocence and purity one would expect to find amongst the White Roses something of a self-taught specialty. Early on, Lillian made friends of a few White Roses she interacted with within the salon's garden, and hearing them tell tales of the way clients would lavish them with doting attention, she grew jealous. A natural actress, Lillian began to mimic the personalities she saw amongst them, in hopes of earning a similar kind of affection from those she serves in the Red Rose parlor. Over time, it's become something more than acting, living the 'lie' until she grew quite well into it in earnest. There's still a great deal of acting involved to get it perfect for patrons, and she can range her personality from the easily excitable, warm-hearted, optimistic sort of innocence that stares wide-eyed and hopeful, utterly ignorant of the evils of the world, to the shy, blushing submissive who can barely keep eye contact with a man. By default ranges to the former, happier personality unless she senses a patron desires the latter.

Her goal is stand out amongst the adepts of her salon through her unique act. For the gentler hearted patrons, it allows men the illusion of introducing a sweet, innocent thing to the 'unknown' joys of her inner masochism. To the less gentle of heart, it gives the kinds of men and women who find inflicting their sadism on an innocent, blushing and shy thing like her an outlet for their desires, forcing shameful and 'unwanted' pleasure from her.

(Quirk elaboration) This constant balance of acting yet not acting has caused Lillian to grow distrustful of others, always uncertain if they too are acting as she is, and struggling to find the 'real' person even when they're being completely open to her. This distrust conflicts especially with her need for cuddly affection, something she's forced herself to suppress, given her status as a novice disallowed of intimate physical contact. Even the worst of her patrons may find their masochistic adept pressing herself close to their body for comfort when it's all said and done, should she sense they may be open to it. Otherwise, she's likely to seek out others within the salon to snuggle close to during recovery, especially when the wounds of her sacred work are fresh upon her body.
